The Sustainable Ecosystems Group at Maynooth University

The Sustainable Ecosystems Group at Maynooth University aims to support the health, biodiversity, and productivity of natural and managed environments with an intention to improve societal resilience and mitigate human impacts (on our natural resources) in a time of rapid global change.  


We aim to:

  • Perform world-class discovery research, underpinning our applied approaches 
  • Find solutions to key societal challenges including climate change, food security, global population growth (and aging) 
  • Foster sustainable, ethical, and inclusive research practices 
  • Advance scientific communication and dialogue on sustainability issues 
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration from molecular to ecosystem-level analyses 
  • Establish meaningful partnerships across society, including researchers, policy makers and the local and wider communities
  • Train exceptional future scientists
